power of self reflection

When standing in front of a mirror, people often have a variety of thoughts and reactions. Some might admire their appearance and think things like "Wow, I look great today" or "I really like my outfit." Others may feel critical of themselves, noticing imperfections and thinking things like "I wish my skin looked better" or "I need to lose weight."

Sometimes, people may use the mirror to practice or improve their appearance, such as practicing their smile or checking their hairline. Others might simply use it to check their reflection before going out in public.

Regardless of the reason, the mirror can evoke a range of emotions and thoughts in people, both positive and negative.

Drawing, what is it and why do we to learn??

You don't need canvas, paint, brush or pencil to make a drawing or start drawing. Imagination is all you need. Any creation takes place at the level of thoughts. Rest is transferring just like from mind to paper. See it as technology of communicating with canvas using specialized tools, such as pencil or brush. How good are you in executing your idea or bringing it out from mind to reality?

I Was reading the book by Harding D. J. (on 19 Feb 2012), quite philosophical. He says no lines exist in nature. It is just an effect, separating two, that what lines do, and nature without light is all dark. As light falls, we see illuminated places. Thus nature represents all bright areas, thats what our eyes see, a reflection of light. We see the light. At the same time, when we draw, we draw shades, opposite of what we see, as the blank paper is representative of light. We add darkness to it, shades and shadows. Art is all about starting from opposite end of spectrum to reflect what nature has provided. Nature's starting canvas is all dark, in contrast our canvas is white. Nature adds light to it while we add shadows.  To be good artist look at shades and shadows. I liked his book on drawing trees and wildlife, a classic Victorian manual.

He drew a hatched box, and when he made its surrounding, the box looked like a door, going deep into the paper. So the real essence comes with surroundings, as depth and perspective walk in. An individual drawing does not have sense without its surroundings. I remember I had a sweater with a rust colour. It looked pathetic on most shirts except the one with darker shades. The same sweater looked terrific. It is always the combination that makes things perfect.

There are two approaches to draw/design/create an object.

- top to bottom:: start with cube or cuboid and start cutting unwanted portions            Think of the most prominent shape, or most dominating form. Does it can be seen around some axis, line or visualize what could be its center. Compare relative relation between those axis, lines or center with that of surroundings.

How a sculpture would arrange big pieces together. Learn to take shape from objects, their meaning, how the cube will look if the hemisphere is cut out from it. Or another edge is cut from it. - bottom to up:: start with small balls and combine them to form larger objects.           think about angles, as they never change           again think of these small details as shapes, but learn to add and take off the space from big objects.

# but both need knowledge of perspective and proportion.
# like sculpture, think of your object, and

why do I want to paint or draw Do I have some message to give do I want to tell some story do I want to copy something as it is and attract the attention of the public do I want to feel good that I painted something do I want to feel good while painting do I want to show something impossible or very creative to the world, and why do I want to be capable enough to put my ideas across, in words or paper or any art form do I want to show the world how inner me through at my paintings and imaginations?

Possible reasons why most of us learn drawing:
 - early motivation of child is reward in school or appraises from neighbors or uncles
- later on, people paint for exhibitions or money or job.

At the end its all trap, but needed for drama of life!!

Droping Specificity!

95 % of people you meet in life, will not even exist in your memory after a specific number of years. Few handfuls of names, pictures and memories are what eventually stay with you.
We discard or refuse to remember so many names and people. May be for our own sake or due to the limitations we have adopted.

Do you want to be remembered, maybe in the minds of one or two, or perhaps more? The greed of increasing number here is directly proportional to pain. And the reverse is magically true. As it does not arise expectation and you place your self as an average human being. However, if any time in your life, you are being treated like a celebrity. You are finished, you are gone, as we like to live those moments and ignore much larger portions of our life. We are trapped in greed track. While we are sailing in greed track, we look around and count heads of our praisers and elevate ego.

Now let us consider another viewpoint. How many special people or incidents do we remember? If you happen to place only a few names or tends to live in some specific moments.  Again, it is directly proportional to pain, as you tend to think of those few specifics, and ignoring larger chuck of life. On the contrary, if we remember more of non-specific names, average moments, pain seems to be much lesser.

Maybe that's why we Indians live in larger families and follow multiple gods. It drops specificity and makes us average.

Game is simple, drop specificity! Be it in time or person, give more, expect least.

Punch needle emroidery: a loosing art

As a kid, I remember my Nani (grandmother), making large wall arts on navy blue cloth. She used to be busy making this typical type of embroidery. I used to wonder what is this method of creating such a magnificent art, and she used to make political leaders, sceneries, animals, whatnot. Today when I searched about it, I found it was punch needle embroidery.

She was quick as every time we go, and we used to see more and more of these large frames.

few of them..

later she asked for needle and it was very difficult to find the specific type of needle she wanted.

These day one can make these needles as well.

Power of Imagination

I never realized until I found that one thing that attracts me most is complexity or non-obviousness. The quality that brings these is imagination.

It is the imagination of a writer that attracts us. It is the imagination of scientists that really gives world milestones to remember for centuries to come.

What really attracts us is the imagination of a person. For example, someone planning for a surprise birthday celebration is also one's imagination. And it is the extent of surprise or creativity, that other person enjoys, and not just the wish.

I wonder if animals around us can also imagine things, or it is only we who are blessed with it.

I was watching movies made for kids, and all those movies had one element common... Imagination!!, and I realized that's how kids have such a different perception and altogether different lifestyle. After watching those fiction and full of crazy ideas( totally not practical), I begin to think something different.
In fact, discovering something appears regular routine after those original movies, they surely give us direction.

I can't explain, but it really pumps and hormones of creativity in blood, there must be some chemicals responsible for creativity. Another way to observe creativity is through looking at a person who is little or totally non-logical in approach, or someone who refuses to accept existing laws of physics, and the moment you drop these laws and think beyond, you actually feel expanded. I always felt enlarged (not from belly but otherwise) after watching those movies. And I believe expansion does bring enormous power to take action and it is some kind of bliss. I won't call it happiness, but some feel-good factor which motivates you to bring more novelty on this planet, and probably that is one key reason why humans thrive for innovation and discover things one after another. Which other species have not even started?

Arjun vs Karan

Arjun Vs Karan

Arjun had no goal, while Karan had one, he wanted to be superior.
While Arjun had nothing in mind, he had not really taken oath to kill any kaurav. He was with no goal

So he was simply there, and thats the reason he said why should i fight.

Karan was eager to fight and could not wait till his turn came.

This was key difference between these two.

Thats why arjun was told what to do, he was told to fight because you have to fight, no reason, just do it as karm(duty), while karna wanted to fight for pride, to be called superior, he was expecting returns.

Arjun was clue less, he was driven, a mindless, self less tool.
Karna was self driven, he decided to follow his mind, his commitments, his words, as "he" spoke them.
Arjun was words less, commitment less, empty.
He see what is asked, he had no mind of his own.
He see birds eye if it was asked. He see nothing else. He was perfect follower.
He was tunable. He was empty. and thus was choosen.  He was transformable, to solider, dancer or anything. He lived with no past.

Karan was headstrong. He decided not to give away his sufferings, he had revenge in mind, he always wanted to prove something, he was recognition,  he gave importance to others opinion, he looked for respect as he deserved.
He was greatest but then fell in trap as people didn't call him so.

Greatest needs no recognition, want for recognition is trap.
Truth needs no expression, wrapping it in words, views, opinion, expression kills it.

It is ones own decision to see who was greater among two!

WCF 2016

The first raindrop fell, and we smiled,
It rained, we looked up, and we smiled,
We gazed, up in the sky, to see what more is coming,
We saw distant dark black clouds covering the sun,
We got thrilled but scared,
It rained heavily, and now we were frightened,
We looked for an escape,
we covered our musical instruments and were even more scared
we looked up and saw the clear sky and disappearing clouds,
It was bright, and we smiled again,
Sun rays, bright and strong fell on our shoulders, we smiled

we pulled out our instruments,
we all played ONE music and drums
we saw celebration and excitement all around,
we looked up and saw a huge rainbow,
we got super thrilled.
we danced,
we calmed down and settled,
It came again, the drops of rain,
It rained again, massive,
we looked around and smiled,
we covered instruments and smiled,
we looked up and smiled,
we danced and smiled,
we celebrated and smiled,
It felt joy!
